Your website needs ongoing care.
WordPress needs updating. Plugins need updating. Security needs monitoring. Backups need checking. Things occasionally break and need fixing. Your team sometimes needs help with changes.
You don’t have technical staff to handle this. You need someone who’ll keep on top of it all proactively, before things break.
That’s what care packages are for.
Every care package is tailored to your website’s size, complexity, and how actively you update it. No one-size-fits-all tiers, just what actually makes sense for your site.
Care packages make sense if:
✓ You want peace of mind that your website is looked after properly
✓ You don’t have technical staff to handle WordPress updates and security
✓ Your website is important — downtime or security issues would be a real problem
✓ Predictable monthly costs work better for your budgeting than unpredictable hourly charges
✓ You need help occasionally with small changes or content issues
✓ You’ve been hacked before or know someone who has (prevention is always cheaper than recovery)
This is NOT right if you’re confident managing WordPress yourself and only occasionally need developer help with major features — in that case, project-based work might suit you better.
SiteGround managed hosting
WordPress core updates
Applied and tested before pushing live. Critical security patches applied promptly.
Plugin and theme updates
Checked for compatibility before updating. Tested to ensure nothing breaks.
Uptime monitoring
Automated monitoring with alerts. I know if your site goes down before you do.
Security scanning
Regular malware and vulnerability scanning. Firewall rules reviewed and maintained.
Performance checks
Monthly review of page speed and server performance. Recommendations if anything’s slipping.
Backup verification
Confirming backups run correctly and can be restored if needed.
Troubleshooting and bug fixes
Things breaking, pages not displaying correctly, plugin conflicts, login issues.
Content support
Help when your team gets stuck. Not doing content work for you, but unblocking you when the site won’t let you do something.
Minor amendments
Small changes that are quicker for me to handle than explain (adding a button, adjusting a layout element, fixing a mobile display issue).
Advice and guidance
Questions about how something works, whether a plugin is right for the job, how to approach a change.
Packages typically start from £195/month
This usually includes:
Bespoke packages for larger or more complex sites
For membership platforms, high-traffic sites, or organisations with specific needs:
If you exceed your monthly support hours: Additional hours are charged at £50/hour. If you’re regularly exceeding your allocation, we should probably adjust your package (it’ll be more cost-effective).
Standard support hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5:30pm
| Priority | Example | Target Response |
|---|---|---|
| Critical | Site completely down, security breach | Within 2 hours |
| Urgent | Key functionality broken (donations, bookings) | Within 4 hours (working day) |
| Standard | Content issue, display bug, general question | Within 1 working day |
| Low/Scheduled | Feature request, improvement, non-urgent change | Within 2 working days |
Out-of-hours emergencies (site completely down or security breach): Available for Premium packages only. Standard packages: handled next working day unless critical (may incur emergency rate).
To keep packages clear and fair, these sit outside the monthly fee:
New feature development — Building new functionality (e.g., membership areas, custom integrations). Quoted separately.
Design work — Visual redesign, new branding, significant layout changes.
Content creation — Writing copy, creating graphics, producing resources. I support publishing, not creating.
Third-party platform issues — Problems with your email provider, CRM, or other external services.
Training — Basic handover included; extensive team training is additional.
Major migrations or rebuilds — Moving to a new platform or complete rebuilds are separate projects.
If something comes up that’s outside your package, I’ll always tell you before doing work. No surprises.
One-time setup fee: £350-500 (depends on complexity)
What’s included:
Timeline: Usually 1-2 weeks from initial review to switchover
We’ve worked with climate communicators, membership networks, and civic organisations, from renewable energy innovators to London’s cultural and planning institutions.
Additional hours are £50/hour. If you regularly exceed hours, we’ll adjust your package to a more suitable tier (better value).
No — the monitoring, security, and maintenance still need to happen even if you’re not actively using the site.
I arrange cover for critical issues. You’ll be notified in advance. Non-critical work waits until I’m back.
No — I work with multiple organisations. But each has guaranteed response times and allocated support hours.
Yes — give me 30 days’ notice. We’ll adjust on your next billing cycle.
30 days’ notice, I’ll provide all documentation and access, and make the handover smooth. Your website, your choice.
No — domain registration/renewal is separate. I can handle it but it’s billed separately.
Basic handover yes. Extensive training is additional (usually 2-3 hours at £50/hour).
Most packages don’t include email. If you need email migration or setup, that’s quoted separately.
