Targeted Website Improvements for Charities and Social Enterprises

Fix specific problems without a full project. Accessibility updates, mobile fixes, donation forms, navigation - focused work that makes a real difference.

Your website doesn’t need a complete rebuild or even a full refresh.

It just has specific problems that need fixing.

Maybe your donation form is broken. Your mobile experience is terrible. Accessibility is failing. Navigation confuses everyone. Forms don’t work properly.

You don’t want to pay for a big project. You just want these specific things fixed. Properly. Quickly.

That’s what this service is for.

Who this is for

This service is right for you if:

Your site mostly works but has specific fixable problems

You know exactly what needs fixing (or I can help identify it)

Budget is tight and you need to prioritise the most important fixes

You need something done quickly (weeks not months)

You’ve been quoted thousands for a full refresh but only need parts of it

You’re planning a bigger project later but need urgent fixes now

This is NOT right if your whole site needs work (that’s a refresh or rebuild) or you need ongoing regular support (that’s a care package).

Common targeted improvements

Accessibility Fixes

What this fixes:

  • Colour contrast issues
  • Missing alt text on images
  • Keyboard navigation problems
  • Form label issues
  • Focus state visibility
  • Screen reader compatibility

Why this matters: Legal requirement under Equality Act 2010, plus you’re excluding people who need your services

Typical scope: Audit + priority fixes

Timeline: 1-3 weeks

Investment: £1,500-3,500

What this fixes:

  • Navigation doesn’t work on phones
  • Text too small to read
  • Buttons too small to tap
  • Forms unusable on mobile
  • Images don’t load properly
  • Content overlaps or breaks

Why this matters: 50-70% of your visitors are on phones, and mobile bounce rates tell you if they’re having a bad experience

Typical scope: Mobile responsive fixes across key pages

Timeline: 2-4 weeks

Investment: £2,000-4,000

What this fixes:

  • Broken donation forms
  • Confusing donation journey
  • No monthly giving option
  • Poor mobile donation experience
  • Missing Gift Aid
  • Unclear what donations achieve

Why this matters: You’re losing donors because giving is hard or confusing

Typical scope: Donation form rebuild, journey improvement, mobile optimisation

Timeline: 1-3 weeks

Investment: £1,500-3,000

What this fixes:

  • Confusing menu structure
  • Too many menu items
  • Important pages buried
  • Inconsistent navigation
  • Mobile menu doesn’t work
  • Users can’t find what they need

Why this matters: If people can’t find it, it doesn’t exist. High bounce rates often mean navigation problems

Typical scope: Information architecture review, navigation redesign, implementation

Timeline: 2-3 weeks

Investment: £2,000-3,500

What this fixes:

  • Slow page loading
  • Large unoptimised images
  • Too many plugins slowing things down
  • Poor hosting configuration
  • Render-blocking resources
  • Database bloat

Why this matters: Every second of load time costs you visitors and donations. Google rankings suffer.

Typical scope: Performance audit, image optimisation, code cleanup, caching setup

Timeline: 1-2 weeks

Investment: £1,200-2,500

What this fixes:

  • Contact forms don’t send
  • Forms ask for too much information
  • No confirmation messages
  • Spam submissions
  • Forms don’t work on mobile
  • No accessibility

Why this matters: Broken forms = lost enquiries, lost volunteers, lost opportunities

Typical scope: Form rebuild, spam prevention, accessibility, mobile optimisation

Timeline: 1-2 weeks

Investment: £1,000-2,000

What this fixes:

  • Outdated content everywhere
  • Broken links
  • Duplicate pages
  • Poor content structure
  • Confusing page hierarchy
  • Search doesn’t work

Why this matters: Messy content damages credibility and makes everything harder to find

Typical scope: Content audit, pruning, reorganisation, redirects

Timeline: 2-4 weeks

Investment: £1,800-3,500

How We Work

1. Identify the problem (30-60 min call)

We talk through what’s not working. I ask questions to understand the actual problem (sometimes what you think is the issue isn’t the root cause).

Free initial call — no charge for diagnosis conversation

2. Audit & proposal (1-3 days)

I audit the specific issue(s), identify what needs fixing, and send you:

  • What’s actually wrong
  • What I’d fix
  • How long it’ll take
  • What it’ll cost

For straightforward fixes: Proposal within 24 hours For complex issues: May need small paid discovery (£350, deductible from project)

3. Fix it (1-4 weeks)

Once you approve the proposal:

  • I fix the specific issues
  • Test thoroughly
  • Show you what’s changed
  • Provide simple documentation

Timeline depends on complexity — urgent fixes can often start same week

4. Handover (30 min call)

I show you what was fixed, how to check it’s working, what to watch for, when to call me if issues return.

7 days post-fix support included for any issues with the work

Investment

Small fixes: £800-1,500
Examples: Simple form fixes, basic accessibility issues, minor mobile tweaks

Medium improvements: £1,500-3,000
Examples: Donation journey overhaul, navigation restructure, focused mobile improvements

Substantial targeted work: £3,000-5,000
Examples: Full accessibility compliance, major performance overhaul, complex form rebuilds

What affects price:

  • Complexity of the issue
  • How many pages affected
  • Whether it’s quick fix or requires rebuilding
  • Testing requirements
  • Whether fixes reveal other issues

Payment:

  • 50% upfront
  • 50% on completion

What's not included

Full site redesign — If your whole site needs work, this isn’t the right service (see Website Refresh)

New features — This is fixing what exists, not building new functionality

Content creation — I’ll reorganise or fix how content displays, but writing new content is your responsibility

Ongoing support — Fixes come with 7 days support; after that it’s ad-hoc or care package

If we discover the problem is bigger than a targeted fix, I’ll be honest about that and help you figure out the right approach.

FAQs

How do I know if I need targeted improvements vs a full refresh?

If you can list 1-3 specific problems, targeted improvements probably make sense. If you’re saying “the whole thing feels wrong,” you need a refresh.

Yes — that’s the whole point. Surgical fixes to specific issues without touching what works.

I’ll tell you. You decide if you want those fixed too, separately, or if you want to leave them.

Often within a week or two. Targeted improvements fit around larger projects, so schedule is more flexible.

I test thoroughly before considering something “fixed.” If something I’ve fixed breaks again, I’ll fix it properly at no extra charge.

Yes — either as one project or sequentially as budget allows.

For work under £3,000, usually 50/50. Over £3,000, yes we can arrange instalments.
