Website Design & Build for Charities and Social Enterprises

A new WordPress website built from scratch - designed for your mission, built to last, and manageable by your team.

Your current website is beyond saving. Or you don’t have one yet. Or you’ve outgrown what you built five years ago and you need something that actually supports your work.

This is a full website build – strategy, design, development, content migration, training. Everything from blank WordPress install to launched website your team can manage.

Who this is for

This service is right for you if:

Your current site is 5+ years old and refreshing it would cost almost as much as rebuilding

Your platform is outdated (old Drupal, Joomla, unsupported theme) and needs migrating to modern WordPress

You’re a new organisation or rebrand and need a website from scratch

Your needs have fundamentally changed – you started small but now need membership features, complex navigation, or multi-site functionality

Nothing about your current site is worth keeping – structure, design, user experience all need rethinking

This is NOT right if your site basically works and just needs visual updating (that’s a website refresh) or has specific fixable problems (that’s targeted improvements).

How We Work

What you get

At the end of this project, you’ll have:

Timeline and process

Typical timeline: 6-8 weeks from kickoff to launch

Can be faster if:

  • Content is ready to go
  • Decision-making is quick
  • No complex integrations needed

Will take longer if:

  • Large content volume to migrate
  • Complex membership features
  • Multiple integrations required
  • Phased approval processes

I work on 2-3 projects at a time, which means once we agree to work together, there’s usually a 2-4 week wait before I can start. If you have urgent deadlines, mention them early.

Investment

Starting from £8,000 for a straightforward build (10-15 pages, standard features)

Typically £10,000-15,000 for most charity/social enterprise websites

£15,000-25,000+ for complex builds with:

  • Membership features
  • Custom functionality
  • Large content volumes
  • Multiple integrations
  • E-commerce

What affects price:

  • Number of pages and templates
  • Custom functionality requirements
  • Integration complexity
  • Content volume to migrate
  • Design complexity

Payment structure:

  • 30% deposit to secure dates
  • 40% on design approval
  • 30% on launch

Payment plans available (monthly instalments over 3-6 months).

What's not included

To keep pricing clear, these sit outside the project scope:

Content creation – I’ll migrate existing content and provide templates, but creating graphics, or producing resources is your responsibility

Branding and logo design – If you need a complete rebrand, that’s a separate project

Training beyond basics – 2-3 hours training is included; extensive team training is additional

Third-party platform costs – Email marketing tools, CRM systems, premium plugins are billed separately

If something’s needed that’s outside scope, I’ll flag it before doing work. No surprises.

FAQs

Can you work with our existing content?

Yes. I’ll migrate everything from your current site, optimise images, update formatting, and set up redirects so nothing breaks.

We can launch with placeholder content and you add the rest afterward, or we can pause the project while you prepare content (though this extends timeline).

Yes, I offer hosting with Siteground.

Yes – that’s the whole point. I build sites that your team can manage. Training is included.

Small changes are fine. Large scope changes might affect timeline and cost – I’ll always flag this before doing extra work.

Yes, for projects over £4,000. Usually split across milestones or monthly instalments.
